The Tibetan Gau (or Ghau) is a travelling altar and prayer amulet container traditionally used by Tibetan Buddhists as a reliquary to hold and carry sacred objects such as healing herbs, figurines of buddhist deities, personal items and other holy objects or sacred blessed items.

Tibetan Gaus are traditionally used by pilgrims for spiritual protection and blessings when travelling long distances.
